HOG Tasmania PhotoPage Template
For use by HOG Tasmania members.
Now you can get your treasured memories up onto the HOG Tasmania website by downloading the PhotoPage template, adding details, then sending the completed page and the photos to the Webmaster.
There are spaces for 40 photos and captions. If you are familiar with tables and html, add more, but try to keep the page to a reasonable size. Having to scroll down through photos for 50 metres tends to get boring.
Open the page from here and save it.
Open the saved file with Word if you don't have a dedicated program such as FrontPage.
Save the file with the name you wish to call it, so that if you make an error, you can start again with the original page. The SaveAs type will be Web Page (*.htm; *.html) - accept that.
Repeat the Open and SaveAs process for each page that you wish to make up.
To make your PhotoPage, replace the following bits on the page -
Title 1: Whatever you think the page should be called.
Title 2: Use this to expand - for example Title 1 may be 2009 HOG National Rally, Title 2 could be Getting There - or just delete it.
Leave blank: Leave blank - Webmaster will add links etc to this area.
Name of Photo: Whatever the photo is called as it resides on your hard drive or DVD/CD. Organise the pictures in order on the page. DON'T insert the picture itself. The Webmaster will make all the appropriate adjustments to picture size and quality and load them onto the page during final preparation.
Caption: A short caption to go UNDER each picture. Can be humorous, try to keep it reasonably clean. If a caption fits two to four adjacent pictures, use Cell Merge for a single caption if you wish.
Your name: Whatever name you wish to go by, make it meaningful.
Comments: If you think some comments would help, add them here. No novels please Tolstoy, keep it brief. If you have a story to tell, regardless of how long, send it through as an attachment with the email. It can then be loaded as a separate file and linked to from the PhotoPage.
That's it, done. Save the page or pages, attach to an email and fire it off to the Webmaster. Either send all your photos on a DVD/CD or email them in batches of a few Mb at a time.
We have a bit over 1Gb of free space on the HOG Tas website, and once pictures are saved for use on the web, we can fit thousands of them in that space, with oldest pages being pushed out as new ones come in.
